The Division of Biology is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the lab of Revathi Govind to study cyclic-di-GMP (c-di-GMP) signaling and its role in bacterial virulence. The project will investigate the molecular mechanisms by which c-di-GMP networks control sporulation, toxin production, and biofilm formation in the anaerobic bacterial pathogen Clostridioides difficile, using both biochemical and genetic approaches.
The Division of Biology at Kansas State University is composed of a dynamic group of tenure-track, research, and instructional faculty, as well as a large number of postdoctoral research associates, graduate students, and support staff. All of these individuals are essential to accomplish the Division of Biology’s mission, to generate and disseminate high-quality biological scientific knowledge through teaching, research, service, and outreach. The research, teaching, and service interests of these individuals, spanning all areas of biological research, teaching and training at the postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate levels, as well as service and outreach contributions to the broader scientific community and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:
• PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field (completed or near completion)
• Experience with bacterial genetics (creating and screening mutants, various cloning methods, PCR, qRT-PCR, protein expression and purification, RNA-seq and general microbiology techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience with bacterial pathogens
• Familiarity with high throughput sequencing and bioinformatics
Additional Role Information:
• Design and execute experiments
• Analyze and interpret data, and contribute to manuscript preparation
• Present findings at lab meetings and scientific conferences
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students as needed
