Our client, a large publicly traded electric utility company headquartered in Akron, Ohio, is seeking two Mid-Level Federal Regulatory Attorneys to join its legal department. These attorneys will play key roles advising the company on federal energy regulatory matters involving transmission policy, mandatory reliability standards, and participation in regional transmission organizations.This positions offer the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile regulatory matters impacting the electric utility industry, including proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), PJM stakeholder matters, and federal appellate litigation. The attorney will collaborate closely with internal business teams, outside counsel, and industry stakeholders while supporting the company's long-term transmission investment strategy.ResponsibilitiesHandle legal matters involving federal public utility regulatory law, with an emphasis on:Mandatory reliability standards under Section 215 of the Federal Power ActPJM Interconnection transmission policy and stakeholder mattersFERC-related regulatory and litigation proceedingsSupport the company's transmission investment and regulatory business initiativesParticipate in PJM stakeholder meetings and industry processesWork collaboratively with internal legal teams, business clients, consultants, and outside counselDraft and review regulatory filings, agreements, legal memoranda, and other corporate documentsProvide strategic legal and business advice to internal clients and leadershipAssist with complex administrative and appellate litigation mattersSupervise outside counsel and consultants as neededSupport state regulatory counsel on combined federal-state regulatory issuesQualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law schoolActive membership in good standing with at least one state barMinimum of 5 years of relevant experience in:Federal energy regulatory lawLitigation at a regional or national law firm, orWork with a national industry associationExperience with administrative agency litigation preferredFamiliarity with FERC proceedings, PJM matters, or federal appellate practice is a plusExcellent legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal and communication abilitiesAbility to build relationships with internal business teams and external stakeholdersDemonstrated strategic thinking and business‑oriented legal judgmentStrong work ethic with the ability to quickly learn new and complex subject matterTravelLimited travel required, including:PJM stakeholder meetingsHearings and conferences in Washington, D.C.Occasional travel within the company's operational footprintIf you are interested in learning more please apply to this posting.#J-18808-Ljbffr
