Job Description

U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service company, is seeking a proven industry professional experienced Ferry Crewmember shall serve as a member of a ferry boat crew, providing assistance in loading and unloading the vessel with vehicles; maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the loading, underway, and unloading processes; and adhering to all U.S. Coast Guard regulations while representing U.S. Facilities in a positive manner.Core Responsibilities:

Direct vehicles and passengers to the proper location with clearly understood signals during loading and unloading operationsEnsure proper spacing between vehicles, allowing for safe egress of passengersProperly chock first and last vehicle in each laneProvide information and assistance to passengersProperly handle vessel lines as requiredCorrectly stand lookout watch when requiredProperly patrol decks and ensure compliance with safety and health regulationsEnsure cleanliness of assigned areas and empty trashServe as emergency HelmsmenPerform other duties as assigned to maintain the safety, cleanliness, and orderliness of the vesselBe alert to security violations and suspicious behaviorRespond appropriately to emergency situationsPerform security sweeps of the vessel between unloading and loading to ensure passenger access areas are clear of passengers and vehicles at the end of each passageAny other duties assigned by a supervisor or Project Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience performing manual labor with a variety of hand toolsExperience participating in and performing emergency response activitiesAbility to communicate with co-workers and the public effectively and courteouslyKnowledge of seamanship, line handling, and marine terminologyValid driver's licenseAll new hires are required to get a Merchant Marine Credential - endorsed as AB or QMED within two (2) years of the date of hireHigh school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for education

Preferred Qualifications:

Merchant Marine Credentials, any endorsement

Compensation:

NOTE: This position is designated as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations. VDOT/Project Management will determine when essential positions are required.Valid driver's license is required. DMV records check is required. Pre-employment drug screen is required.
