Who we are and what we do:

The Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions (TDFI) regulates banks, credit unions, trust companies, and other institutions. TDFI's primary mission is to provide citizens with a safe and sound system of banks and other institutions by ensuring safety and soundness and compliance with governing law, while giving institutions the opportunity to contribute to the economic progress of Tennessee and the nation.

How you make a difference in this role:

This position works collectively with federal counterparts to plan, coordinate, direct and provide continuous management, analysis, risk assessment, evaluation and oversight of the examination and regulation of large, complex banks with assets in excess of $10 billion. In coordination with others, you will develop a yearly supervisory/examination plan and serve as the key representative and technical authority responsible for planning and directing the supervisory efforts of the assigned bank. You will provide input to the Chief Administrator-Large Banks and other leadership to facilitate achievement of TDFI's mission, explore opportunities to reduce regulatory burden for banks, and apply a risk-focused approach to examinations.

Job Overview:

As a Large Bank Program Administrator, you work collectively with peers, the Chief Administrator-Large Banks, and federal counterparts to plan, coordinate, direct and provide continuous monitoring of the assigned bank through the development of an annual supervisory plan, oversight of target examinations, review of bank information, and participation in management meetings to assess the bank's financial viability and compliance with regulations, while employing a fair and balanced approach and serving as a strategic partner with bank officials to promote economic development.

• You will prepare and submit reports to TDFI leadership.

• This position may serve as the Examiner-in-Charge and oversee examiners assisting with target reviews.

• Position may require extensive statewide travel and may require out-of-state travel for training and development, as well as possible examination work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and submit reports on reviews of large, complex, and troubled banks to assess financial viability and compliance with governing regulations.

• Assess asset quality and various operational functions such as capital, earnings, liquidity, sensitivity to market risk, audit, securities, data governance, model risk management, enterprise risk management, subsidiary operations, and affiliate operations.

• Coordinate or oversee specialty examinations such as Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering /Countering the Financing of Terrorism, Trust, and Information Technology.

• In coordination with federal counterparts, develop a yearly supervisory/examination plan.

• Effectively scope each phase of the supervisory/examination plan to ensure the appropriate risks are identified.

• Develop formal plans and programs to address deficiencies and risks.

• Participate in compliance reviews and meetings facilitated by federal regulators.

• Oversee analysis of new service or branch applications to determine if risks are appropriately evaluated.

• Assist on special projects as assigned.

• Maintain in-depth knowledge and an informed position of bank operations, including economic and financial trends.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Experience:

• A minimum of five years of supervisory, team leader or EIC experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting and/or other related field with a minimum of five years of bank examination experience with a federal or state regulator.

• A minimum of nine hours of accounting or finance required.

• Successful completion of all core bank examination schools required

• Valid motor vehicle license required.
