TekCom Resources is seeking a Construction Supervisor/Coordinator for a direct-hire opportunity with a growing telecommunications construction company in the Janesville or Oshkosh, WI area.
This position oversees Outside Plant (OSP) fiber construction projects, coordinates field crews, monitors progress, and ensures work meets quality, safety, and scheduling requirements. Requires hands-on fusion fiber splicing experience. Opportunity also suits OSP foremen, field supervisors, and fiber technicians ready to advance into construction management.
Projects support a major national broadband provider. Local field travel is generally within 1–2 hours of the assigned market.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily OSP fiber construction, including aerial and underground installations.
- Coordinate internal crews and subcontractors to complete work safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Conduct field inspections, verifying location, scope, quality, and quantity of work completed each day.
- Monitor fiber installation, splicing activities, testing, and construction progress.
- Support pre-construction planning, field preparation, and project closeout.
- Maintain construction schedules, track crew productivity, and uphold performance standards.
- Review redlines, permitting, pole work, and right-of-way requirements.
- Maintain documentation for crew hours, contractor billing, supplies, equipment, safety, and progress.
- Communicate milestones, issues, and project updates to management, customers, and departments.
- Ensure compliance with company safety practices and applicable construction standards.
- Perform additional construction coordination duties as assigned.
Expectations: Be a hands-on, self-motivated professional comfortable working in the field, supervising crews, resolving construction issues, and communicating with field teams and management. Daily site visits, independent decision-making, and strong organization are essential.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of field construction experience, preferably in telecommunications or OSP fiber construction.
- Fusion Splicing Experience
- At least 6 months of hands-on OSP construction experience.
- Experience supervising or coordinating field crews, subcontractors, or construction activities.
- Understanding of construction quality, safety requirements, and schedules.
- Ability to inspect sites and verify work progress.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to independently manage multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel to local construction sites five days per week.
Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on fiber splicing experience is highly required. Additional valuable experience includes FTTH deployments, aerial and underground fiber construction, OTDR testing, fiber troubleshooting, pole attachments, make-ready, HFC, power supply installation, permitting, construction redlines, and NESC standards. Experience with crew management, project financial tracking, and broadband deployment is a plus.
