Fiber Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) Drop Technician to join our telecommunications team. The FTTH Drop Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic drop connections between the distribution network and customer premises. The ideal candidate will have experience in fiber installation, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in outdoor environments.

Key Responsibilities

· Install underground fiber optic drop cables from network access points to residential and commercial customer locations.

· Perform fiber splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting as required.

· Conduct site surveys and determine the most efficient and safe installation path.

· Install and secure drop cables using industry-standard methods and equipment.

· Complete fiber testing using power meters, visual fault locators, and other testing equipment.

· Troubleshoot service issues and perform repairs to restore customer connectivity.

· Ensure all work complies with company standards, customer requirements, and local regulations.

· Operate company vehicles and other field equipment safely.

· Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and service activities using company software and mobile applications.

· Communicate professionally with customers regarding installation procedures, service expectations, and troubleshooting efforts.

· Participate in emergency restoration activities and on-call rotations as required.

Work Environment

This position involves outdoor fieldwork, including working in residential neighborhoods, commercial properties, utility easements, and construction environments. Candidates must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and adhering to all safety procedures.
