Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginias capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Fiber Optics Installer Adjunct Faculty member provides hands-on instruction and classroom teaching in fiber optics installation, testing, and maintenance. This role prepares students for entry-level to advanced careers in telecommunications by delivering industry-aligned curriculum emphasizing safety standards, troubleshooting techniques, and real-world applications. The adjunct faculty member supports student learning through engaging instruction, lab supervision, assessment of competencies, and collaboration with program faculty to ensure course content reflects current industry practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience installing and splicing fiber optics with demonstrated competency in teaching field. One year of related occupational experience.
Knowledge of instructional methods related to adult learners.
Additional Considerations
Knowledge of instructional technology applications such as the Canvas learning management system. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with various student populations.
