Objective

As a Field Application Sales Specialist focused on Optical Communications, your primary objective is to drive growth and market adoption of Yokogawa's Optical Spectrum Analyzers (OSA) and Wavelength Meters across key East and West Coast markets.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic sales execution to support both direct and indirect channels. You will deliver high-impact pre-sales support, enable sales teams, and develop targeted strategies to win business with communication customers including telecom, datacenter, photonics, and component manufacturers.

Field Application Sales Specialist Duties

• Meet or exceed assigned revenue goals.
• Maintain expert level technical knowledge of Test and Measurement products and relevant competition.
• Maintain expert level knowledge for the application of products or solutions for the optical industry.
• Drive indirect sales team in developing and winning customer opportunities.
• Continuously develop the technical competence of our indirect sales teams.
• Develop solutions that position our portfolio to address specific customer needs and differentiate us from our competition.
• Actively engage Yokogawa's North American and international product management to ensure regional requirements are included in product development, service, promotion, and inventory plans.
• Lead and execute initiatives and promotional plans for target accounts and customers, with indirect and direct sales channel.
• Actively engage Yokogawa corporate marketing to define and improve messaging, marketing collateral and sales tools.
• Demonstrate the ability to motivate and influence others to meet your business objectives.

METRICS

• Performance against plan for order intake for assigned products and geography.
• Implementation of relevant elements of the annual business plans for product, and indirect sales channels (e.g., target account visits, virtual meetings, Rep reviews etc.).

SPECIFICATIONS

• Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering from four-year college or university. In lieu of degree a combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Experience: Minimum 2-5 years in measurement equipment industry. 5+ years selling in a direct or indirect position preferred. Optical sales specialization background is also preferred.

Travel: up to 50%
