The Field Clinical Lead (FCL) Manager is a strategic, cross-functional leader responsible for overseeing a team of Field Clinical Leads who integrate clinical trial execution, advanced case support, and commercial clinical partnership across the Structural Heart (SH) portfolio.

This role blends clinical affairs rigor with commercial execution, ensuring excellence in clinical outcomes, trial delivery, physician engagement, and procedural adoption. The FCL Manager drives alignment across Global Clinical Affairs, Commercial leadership, and R&D, while maintaining accountability for regional performance in trial enrollment, case success, and customer value creation.

The FCL Manager leads a team of highly specialized clinical experts (FCLs), ensuring the organization delivers industry-leading procedural expertise, high-quality clinical data, and differentiated customer support.

This is a remote position and will have 50% + travel

We prefer to hire someone in the Midwest or West Coast regions

What You’ll Do

1. Leadership & Talent Development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team of Field Clinical Leads.
  • Foster a unified team culture blending clinical and commercial excellence.
  • Provide ongoing coaching in:
    • Clinical expertise and procedural excellence
    • Trial execution and data quality
    • Customer engagement and strategic account support
  • Drive performance management through quarterly feedback, development plans, and annual reviews
  • Build future leadership pipeline and mentor emerging talent.
  • Ensure standardization of best practices across regions.

2. Clinical Trial Leadership & Execution

  • Provide regional leadership and oversight of clinical trials, including premarket and post-market studies.
  • Ensure excellence in:
    • Site selection, activation, and engagement
    • Enrollment strategy and execution
    • Data quality, protocol adherence, and compliance
  • Hold team accountable for enrollment targets and forecasting and identification and removal of enrollment barriers
  • Partner with investigators, PIs, and research teams to strengthen trial execution and outcomes.
  • Promote patient diversity and equitable enrollment strategies.

3. Clinical Expertise & Case Support Oversight

  • Ensure FCL team delivers best-in-class procedural support and proctorship:
    • Complex case guidance
    • Investigational and commercial case coverage
    • Abbott Expert Lead (Proctor) execution
  • Maintain organizational capability as procedural SMEs across SH therapies.
  • Support strategy for:
    • Site launches and program expansion
    • Complex case planning and escalation
  • Ensure high standards in clinical outcomes and patient safety.

4. Commercial & Strategic Partnership

  • Partner with Commercial leadership (RSDs, AVPs) to:
    • Align clinical and regional account strategies
    • Support account growth and therapy adoption
  • Ensure FCL team contributes to:
    • Physician engagement and proctoring strategy
    • Complex case coverage and customer retention
  • Drive customer-centric solutions by integrating clinical insights with market needs.
    • Support key stakeholder relationships across physicians, KOLs, hospital leadership, valve clinics

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a critical interface across functions:
    • Global Clinical Affairs (GCA) & Clinical Operations (GCO)
    • Commercial & Marketing
    • R&D and Engineering
  • Translate field insights into clinical strategy, Product development improvements and Evidence generation and messaging
  • Participate in investigator meetings, conferences, and internal strategy forums.

6. Training, Proctorship & Clinical Excellence

  • Ensure delivery of training and education programs across physicians, research staff, and internal teams
  • Oversee proctorship development and deployment strategy.
  • Standardize procedural and operational best practices across regions.
  • Partner with training teams to develop curriculum for advanced procedures, and support onboarding and certification of FCLs

7. Business & Operational Management

  • Own regional operational performance across Clinical trial execution and Case support effectiveness
  • Manage budget and cost center responsibilities, expense approvals and compliance
  • Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (FDA, GCP), Internal SOPs and compliance standards

8. Quality, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure consistent compliance across Clinical trials, Case support activities and Customer interactions
  • Maintain high standards for Documentation, Clinical quality and audit readiness
  • Reinforce ethical and compliant behavior across the team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, engineering, or related clinical field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 6+ years of significant experience in:
    • Structural heart / TAVI / Cath lab environments
    • Clinical trials and/or field-based clinical roles
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of Clinical research processes and Procedural case support.
  • Ability to operate in a highly matrixed environment spanning Clinical and Commercial.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced clinical credentials (RN, PA, RCIS, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Transcatheter therapies (TAVI, Mitral, Tricuspid)
    • Imaging modalities (echo, CT, fluoro)
  • Experience supporting Clinical trials and Commercial case environments

The base pay for this position is

$113,300.00 – $226,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
