Senior Communications Technician

Location: 77494
Pay Rate: $50–55/hr
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Call Support Required
Travel: Up to 40%

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Communications Technician to provide regional telecommunications field support for a variety of communication systems and infrastructure. This role requires a highly motivated professional who can work independently while supporting projects, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting system issues, and providing 24/7 on-call support. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with telecommunications systems, SCADA environments, wireless communications, and network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • Support voice, data, SCADA, video, microwave, satellite, and wireless communication systems.
  • Assist project teams with implementation and commissioning of communication-related projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing telecommunications installation and maintenance work.
  • Provide technical support and first-level training to field operations personnel.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between field operations and IT support teams.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs and perform fault isolation and troubleshooting activities.
  • Promote field standards and provide feedback to engineering teams regarding system performance and improvements.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation.
  • Travel throughout the region as needed to support operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate Degree in Electronics OR 7+ years of equivalent electronics field experience required.
  • 7+ years of experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications systems.
  • Experience supporting wireless data systems, SCADA systems, and LAN cabling infrastructure.
  • Ability to utilize telecommunications test equipment and diagnostic software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors and safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Valid TWIC Card required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FCC License.
  • CCNA or similar networking certification.
  • Experience with microwave communication systems.
  • Experience with phone system installation and maintenance.
  • Experience directing contractors and supporting field operations personnel.
