Reports To: Foreman or Superintendent Position Summary The Field Engineer supports the entire project management and field operations teams to optimize the profitability of company projects. The primary purpose of the Field Engineer is to learn about civil construction work and Faulconer processes and support the other employees. This is accomplished through working as a laborer on all crew types.
Primary Job Responsibilities Perform and assist the Superintendent, Foreman, and crew members with all tasks associated with project work. Develop an understanding of all project plans, details, specifications, and scope for their assigned projects. Assist Foreman in tracking daily productions, crew hours, equipment hours, and materials used. Contact, communicate, and coordinate with Subcontractors, suppliers, and trucking dispatches. Assist Foreman in ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with project plans and specifications. Assist Foreman and other crew members in shooting grades and laying out work, documenting in daily logs and photos. Assist Foreman with coding material and trucking tickets. Perform all typical laborer responsibilities as directed by Field Leadership. Assist project team with QA/QC by checking material deliveries and coordinate with Project Management staff to distribute submittals and RFIs and develop a production planner. Examine the site with E&S inspectors and support Field Leadership to complete any repairs, documenting and responding to inspectors for proof of completion.
Position Expectations This position operates in both an office and on construction sites. Will be exposed to various weather conditions, working around moving machinery/equipment, excessive noise, and dust/dirt on job sites. Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as protective eyewear, safety vests, hard hats, and appropriate footwear.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree 1-2 years working in a construction environment
Ability to use lasers, transits, and other construction tools and equipment Familiarity with construction processes
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies (Heavyjob, Viewpoint, Procore, iAuditor, etc.) Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks quickly and accurately Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite Detail-oriented and organized
