Field Engineer I Los Angeles, CA, US US6671 Early career Construction Permanent

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety of all assigned employees and subcontractors to ensure the safe execution of all activities, including the strict adherence to company safety policies and programs.
  • Communicate and enforce the Skanska Safety and Health Management Program, including the ability to independently stop work for a safety violation or suspected safety violation.
  • Supervise on a day-to-day basis the on-site field labor force.
  • Inspect contractor or subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with the Contract and determine non-compliance where applicable.
  • Create and maintain site logistics plans in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Conduct quality inspections, determine QC deficiencies if any, and manage corrections when required.
  • Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
  • Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
  • Manage schedules, including preparation of detailed short-term schedules and ensuring all assigned activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates.
  • Exercise decision-making to reschedule and/or re-coordinate work to ensure compliance with applicable project schedules.
  • Prepare and submit Daily Reports, including work-in-place quantities.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.

Education and Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Construction or Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Requires broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of prior relevant experience.
  • Computer proficient with the ability to adapt to new innovations and processes.
  • Capable of understanding construction documents, including drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Strong written communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Good math/accounting skills.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Functions effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

  • Logistics: Has a basic understanding of logistics. Develops, approves, and communicates construction logistics plans, verifying they are in place and clearly understood. Ensures that projects are proceeding according to these plans.
  • Plans and Specifications: Reads and interprets construction plans and technical specifications to aid in constructability review. Ensures submittals are approved prior to proceeding with work.
  • Project Cost Management: Monitors, tracks, and forecasts self-perform and subcontractor project costs and quantities, including labor, equipment, and materials, to ensure projects are successful and profitable.
  • Safety: Ensures the safe execution of all work activities and ensures adherence to safety regulations to protect all individuals. Verifies and coordinates work activities to comply with the Skanska EHS program and corrects unsafe activities, actions, and conditions.
