Job Summary:

The Field Engineer is responsible for supporting project execution through field coordination, quality control support, quantity tracking, documentation, and construction planning activities.

Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and Quality Control personnel, the Field Engineer plays a key role in ensuring construction operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Operations Support

  • Assist project management and field supervision with daily construction operations.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents and craft personnel to support production activities and ensure work aligns with project plans and specifications.
  • Perform layout verification, field measurements, and quantity tracking for installed work.
  • Monitor work progress and assist with short-term planning of construction activities.
  • Support the development of work plans and sequencing of operations.

Quality Control & Inspection Support

  • Assist with project quality control activities to ensure compliance with contract documents and agency specifications.
  • Observe field operations and communicate quality concerns to project leadership.
  • Maintain documentation related to testing results, inspections, and compliance records.

Project Controls & Documentation

  • Assist with project documentation processes.
  • Maintain organized project records and assist with document control systems.

Estimating & Preconstruction Support

  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and cost analysis during the estimating process.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to support bid preparation.
  • Help solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Support development of preliminary construction schedules and work plans.
  • Assist with maintaining historical cost data and bid records.

Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, estimators, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Participate in project meetings and assist with meeting documentation and follow-up.
  • Maintain professional relationships with project stakeholders, including clients, inspectors, and design professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field required.
  • 0-3 years of experience in construction, engineering, or related industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Exposure to construction software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS, AGTEK, or scheduling tools is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
