JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience:
- Experience in a customer service setting.
- Demonstrated interest in safety and security. Some experience in safety and security preferred.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:
- Ability to analyze situations and quickly make sound judgements calmly and quickly.
- Ability to relate to diverse and special needs populations.
- Read, understand, and communicate information and ideas presented in writing.
- Use mathematics to solve problems.
- General principles and objectives of information technology systems and programs.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office or similar software is required. Relevant business equipment including the use of basic computer programs and systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:
- Assist patrons and staff with directions or information.
- Perform walking patrols on library campus.
- Monitor CCTV or building access control systems.
- Answer phone calls or radio broadcasts from staff and coworkers.
- Report any suspicious activity or accidents to a safety supervisor via two-way radio, phone or in person.
- Under the direction of a supervisor, serves as a safety representative at Library locations.
- Under the direction of a supervisor, may assist various departments with security related tasks.
- Under direction of a supervisor, assist with emergency evacuations, building sweeps and other activities related to the safety of a library location.
- Under the direction of a supervisor, assist patrons and staff during emergencies or disastersituations.
- Write incident reports and take notes on suspicious activities and report.
- Under the direction of a supervisor, assist in maintaining patron code of conduct.
- Report unauthorized person on campus to supervisor or via two-way radio.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
