Job Title: Field Engineer Resident Project Representative

Stanley Consultants Inc. is looking for a Resident Project Representative for our Salt Lake City, Utah office. The Resident Project Representative acts as a Field Engineer on Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) projects and supports the Project Engineer. Performs daily on-site observation of the construction work compared to the projects plans and specifications. Manages the completion of these observations through Resident Project Representatives, Construction Inspectors, and Material Technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares weekly status reports
- Coordinates progress meetings with the contractor and owner
- Manages the submittal and shop drawing review process
- Monitors project construction budgets
- Monitors internal project budgets
- Ensures Stanley staffs compliance with the Group Safety manual
- Analyzes and negotiates change orders
- Resolves contractor questions and drawing clarifications
- Maintains active client communications and assists the Business Development Manager or others with marketing interviews and proposal preparation
- Provides corporate support as requested to the Construction Services Chief, Group Safety Manager, Human Resources, Accounting, and Line Management
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 3 to 10 years of experience in engineering and/or construction management
- Experience performing field engineering duties for the Utah Department of Transportation strongly preferred
- Excellent visualization, communication, and documentation skills
- Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and an individual capable of performing in an unsupervised capacity
- A general knowledge of construction techniques and an ability to read plans and specs is mandatory
- Especially experience with UDOT plans, specifications, policies, and procedures for project delivery and construction
- Proven ability to distribute learned knowledge to other Resident Project Representatives, Construction Observers, and Material Testing Technicians
- Ability to assist Construction Manager, Resident Engineer with many of their tasks and to be able to fill the Construction Managers, Resident Engineers role temporarily in their absence
- Willingness to help in performing on-site material testing
- Aptitude to act as a positive representative of the Stanley Consultants Inc. core values and an active participation in an outside professional organization or internal Stanley committees (i.e., Group Safety Committee, MAC, etc.)
Judgment and Initiative:
- Usually involves diversified work within general procedures requiring frequent judgment and initiative. Only exceptional cases outside of general procedures referred to manager.
Physical Demands:
- The position requires the ability to work at and easily maneuver around construction sites in various weather conditions, lift and transport up to 50 lbs., and possibly climb ladders, scaffolding, trenches, etc.
- Fear of heights or confined spaces could create a significant hardship.
Other:
- The position will require performing work throughout the state of Utah, especially along the Wasatch Front and in southern Utah.
- This position may require some out-of-town work assignments. If so, per diem and housing arrangements will be provided by the company.
- Work hours of this position are not defined and will vary week to week as we are required to work at all times that the general contractor is on-site performing substantial work activities.
- Operating or being in the vicinity of a nuclear density gauge may be required at times.
- If requested by the Company, the member must be able to meet the criteria established by the Federal Government for operation of this equipment.
Stanleys Approach to Flexibility:
- While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home.
- Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule.
- Members who participate will be assigned a 980 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off.
