A day in this role

You’ll be in the field—on active pipeline and facility construction sites—partnering with contractor leaders and internal teams to spot risks early, drive safe work practices, and verify that every crew goes home safely. Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you’ll receive frequent direction and check-ins, and you’ll regularly align on company and departmental priorities.

What you’ll do

  • Inspect regional construction activities and pipe installations; shadow pre-construction when applicable; support damage prevention; collaborate with contractor management and safety representatives to ensure safe execution.
  • Perform routine audits against the Contractor Safety and Environmental Manual; complete/participate in area safety assessments, inspections, observations, and quality reviews.
  • Support incident management: reporting, investigations, management committee reviews, and corrective action tracking to closure.
  • Foster a strong health and safety culture; assist construction teams in implementing project- and task-specific safety plans.
  • Work closely with Company Safety Advisors, Company Inspectors, and the Superintendent of Construction to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Verify adherence to contractor and project-specific safety plans through documented on-site audits; schedule recurring audits on active jobs.
  • Coordinate with the Contractor Safety Lead to identify hazards and implement practical safe-work controls; coach teams to continuously strengthen safety behaviors.
  • Ensure contractors follow project plans, company policies, and all regulatory requirements; advise inspectors on contractor safety plans and company policies.
  • Communicate safety goals to contractor field staff; confirm safety meetings are adequate and occur as scheduled.
  • Keep safety plans and programs current with regulatory or policy changes.

What you bring
