The M & E Welder III is responsible for welding metal components together with brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as machine parts, plant equipment, motors, and generators.

WHAT YOULL DO:
• Weld metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes, and perform related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding. • Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase size of metal parts. • Position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. • Perform general assembly of engine to driven equipment. • Apply a general understanding of mechanical concepts, pipe layout and threading. • Differentiate between thread types and sizes, and utilize basic torque techniques. • Look for ways to improve and promote quality, apply feedback to improve performance, and monitor own work to ensure quality. • Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly. • Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and time management. • Follow instructions, respond to management direction, take responsibility for own actions, and keep commitments. • Occasionally work long or unusual hours of work when necessary to reach goals.
WHAT YOULL NEED:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); • Five to eight years related experience and/or training. • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, which may be in written, verbal, or diagram form. • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. • Basic mathematical skills, to include the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. • Ability to pass Worksteps evaluation.
