The ideal candidate is highly experienced, able to work independently in a service truck environment, and comfortable making real-time repair decisions in fast-paced construction settings.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment directly on job sites (excavators, dozers, loaders, trucks, and support equipment)
  • Perform both emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance in the field to minimize equipment downtime
  • Operate a service truck and travel to various job sites as needed
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment reliability and safety
  • Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools to accurately identify issues
  • Communicate with operators, foremen, and project teams to understand equipment concerns and prioritize repairs
  • Coordinate with vendors, parts suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to source parts and resolve technical issues
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and equipment reports
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and maintenance processes
  • Mentor or provide guidance to junior mechanics as needed

Qualifications

  • Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in demanding conditions (weather, job sites, travel)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with operations teams
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)
  • Experience with equipment maintenance software or work order systems preferred
  • Commitment to safety and promoting a positive, inclusive work environment
