Field Nurse Case Manager (RN) – Workers’ Compensation

Full-Time | Permanent | Field-Based | Georgia

We are actively seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join a growing Case Management organization as a Field Nurse Case Manager. This role offers autonomy, professional growth, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in injured workers’ lives. We Will Train the Right Nurse

We welcome nurses with experience in any clinical setting and have a strong interest in candidates with backgrounds in:

  • Home Health
  • Occupational Health
  • Employee/State Health
  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Medical or Clinical Case Management (any setting)

In Georgia, this role falls under two pathways:

  1. Nationally Certified Case Managers (CCM, CDMS, CRC, etc.), or
  2. Non-certified RNs who are willing to be trained for one year prior to sitting for the national certification exam

Position Overview

The Field Nurse Case Manager utilizes medical and nursing expertise to evaluate treatment plans for medical appropriateness, coordinate care, and communicate effectively with injured workers, physicians, employers, and insurance carriers. This role supports positive outcomes while aligning with cost-effective and evidence-based care strategies.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical case management through direct communication with patients, physicians, healthcare providers, employers, and referral sources
  • Evaluate treatment plans for medical necessity, appropriateness, and cost-effectiveness
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized case management plans and goals
  • Communicate medical conditions and treatment plans clearly to patients, families, physicians, and adjusters
  • Recommend appropriate medical and community-based resources
  • Coordinate delivery of services including DME and nursing care
  • Attend physician appointments, therapy visits, hospital or long-term care discharge planning meetings, and attorney conferences
  • Conduct initial home visits and assess home environments (including architectural assessments when needed)
  • Research and coordinate resources for catastrophic and chronic conditions (e.g., spinal cord injury, cancer, head injury, diabetes, burns, etc.)
  • Maintain required billable standards (1.8–2.2 hours per case per week; average 18–24 FCE cases/month)
  • Heavy field travel required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong clinical judgment and medical knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Professional interaction with physicians, attorneys, claims staff, and employer representatives
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to drive regularly and navigate continuously

Requirements

  • Active Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and GA auto insurance
  • Clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the field
  • Case management experience preferred but not required—we will train the right candidate
