Job Description

The Safety Coordinator will play a key role in overseeing safety practices and ensuring compliance within the construction department. Based in New Jersey, this role focuses on promoting a safe working environment and implementing effective safety protocols on property-related projects.

My client is a major heavy civil and utility contractor base in NJ with a footprint across the northeast.

Description

  • Develop and implement safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Provide safety training and education to employees and contractors.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to promote a culture of safety.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained and readily available.
  • Stay updated on industry safety standards and regulations.

Profile

A successful Safety Coordinator should have:

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in the construction industry.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections and implementing safety programs.
  • Strong communication and training skills.
  • Ability to investigate and document safety incidents effectively.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate safety records and reports.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe and compliant work environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience with water/wastewater utilities, DOT agencies and civil infrastructure projects.
