**Position Overview

**

Our client is seeking a

**Field Sales Engineer

** with a strong technical background to grow and manage customer relationships across the North American market. This role carries significant ownership and responsibility, serving as the primary customer contact throughout the entire sales process—from initial engagement through purchase order.

In this position, you will drive B2B sales of screw compactors used to de-water and compact recyclable waste. You’ll work closely with customers to understand operational needs and deliver tailored technical solutions. This is a highly independent role requiring structure, accountability, persistence, and a proactive sales mindset.

You’ll be part of a small, dedicated Chicago-based team and collaborate closely with the company’s headquarters in Europe.

**Key Responsibilities

**

  • Act as a collaborative team member within a small Chicago-based sales team

  • Develop new business through prospecting, cold calling, video meetings, and outreach

  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the full sales lifecycle

  • Proactively manage and grow customer relationships

  • Conduct on-site and virtual meetings to identify customer needs and technical requirements

  • Prepare quotations and follow up on proposals using ERP systems

  • Maintain accurate customer activity and data within the CRM system

  • Coordinate closely with European headquarters on technical solutions and order processing

  • Follow up on leads, active projects, and existing customer accounts

  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events

  • **Travel up to 30% (passport required)

**Qualifications

**

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sales, or related field

    **OR

    ** 6+ years of relevant experience in industrial sales, engineering, or service

  • Proven B2B sales experience, preferably in technical or industrial products

  • **Strong technical aptitude with the ability to translate customer needs into solutions

    **

  • Experience managing the full sales process from lead generation to purchase order

  • Comfortable working independently and owning results

  • **Background in manufacturing, recycling, or industrial environments preferred

    **

  • Experience selling high-value technical solutions is a plus

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Customer-focused, professional, and service-oriented

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM systems, and ERP platforms

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated

  • **Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

**Physical & Site Requirements

**

  • Ability to lift, pull, move, and transport at least 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally

  • Ability to climb and work at above-average heights

  • Must be able to wear required PPE at customer sites, including steel-toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and/or respirators
