Field Service Engineer
Job Description:
The Field Service Engineer leads and executes customer-facing installations, MRI lab build-outs, system modifications, and ongoing service and maintenance for advanced medical device systems, including the Advantage System and associated third-party equipment. This role coordinates and project manages all technical aspects of product performance to ensure safe, timely, and compliant installations, successful clinical use, and high levels of customer satisfaction. The Field Service Engineer adheres to all Quality System requirements and follows established environmental, health, and safety policies while working both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the project management lead for MRI lab build-outs, system installations, and system modifications, defining technical specifications, timelines, and operational readiness requirements.
- Develop clear objectives, detailed schedules, and repeatable procedural checklists to support consistent, high-quality installations and service activities.
- Install, configure, test, and document all product equipment, including third-party components, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and performance standards.
- Manage all maintenance and repair activities for installed systems, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation.
- Maintain accurate service tickets, quality records, and regulatory documentation in accordance with Quality System requirements.
- Coordinate delivery, installation, customer training, and go-live activities to ensure a smooth transition into clinical use and high customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Clinical, Operations, and Engineering teams to support customer needs and continuous improvement of products and processes.
- Work with field clinical engineers to provide technical and clinical case support as needed during product use and clinical procedures.
- Apply strong independent investigational and troubleshooting skills to diagnose complex system issues and implement effective corrective actions.
Essential Skills
- 5-7 years of experience in project management or field service engineering; experience in the medical device industry preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or biomedical engineering preferred.
- Experience working with complex medical device systems; prior MRI lab experience preferred.
- Demonstrated investigational and troubleshooting skills, with a track record of resolving complex technical issues.
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to create and maintain accurate technical records, service reports, and regulatory documentation.
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously, including installations, upgrades, and service activities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid passport to support domestic and occasional international travel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience working in MRI labs or with MRI-related medical device systems.
- Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional project teams in a field service or engineering environment.
- Background in medical device industry quality systems and regulatory documentation processes.
- Familiarity with project management practices for technical installations and system upgrades.
- Comfort working in clinical environments and supporting clinical teams during system use.
- Interest in contributing to a growing company with products in various stages of regulatory approval and commercialization.

Work Environment:
The first 6-12 months will require 25% travel with majority time spent at global headquartes for training in Burnsville, MN. After the training period is over, this role requires approximately 75% travel, primarily within the domestic region, with occasional international travel as needed.
