Serving some of the world's largest manufacturing brands, we are aggressively expanding our North American footprint and scaling our engineering and service operations. We pride ourselves on a highly collaborative, family-oriented work culture that prioritizes internal advancement, career development, and technical excellence.

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Field Service & Automation Technician to join our regional validation and commissioning team. In this role, you will be responsible for the on-site installation, setup, calibration, and validation of sophisticated robotic cells and automated machinery at client facilities across North America. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated technical troubleshooter with strong PLC experience who enjoys solving complex electromechanical challenges and working directly with clients. This role requires up to 70% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • System Commissioning: Set up, align, calibrate, and validate advanced robotic arms, conveyor networks, pneumatics, sensors, and associated automation hardware.
  • Controls & PLC Support: Connect to, troubleshoot, and support industrial PLC platforms, with a primary focus on Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley environments.
  • Diagnostics & Overrides: Perform logic analysis, input/output point forcing, safety bypass verifications, and comprehensive system diagnostic checks during commissioning phases.
  • Electromechanical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fluid power, and process control issues (including valves, actuators, and pneumatic systems).
  • Technical Document Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and technical wiring layouts.
  • Networking & Calibration: Manage device IP mapping, establish network communications, and calibrate field instrumentation.
  • Software Version Control: Ensure proper configuration tracking and backup of active PLC source codes and control programs.
  • Client Training: Conduct hands-on training sessions for customer operators and maintenance teams regarding safe equipment operation and daily maintenance.
  • Technical Representation: Serve as the primary on-site technical expert for proprietary machinery, ensuring high customer satisfaction during deployments.
  • Field-to-Engineering Feedback: Collect and communicate field performance data, customer feedback, and potential equipment modification requirements to the design and engineering teams.
  • Documentation & Records: Author precise field service reports, equipment performance logs, and preventative maintenance records.

Required Qualifications:

  • Practical experience connecting to PLCs, establishing device communications (IP mapping), and calibrating instrumentation.
  • Strong diagnostic skills focusing on PLC logic systems and electromechanical process control devices.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with a willingness to perform hands-on assembly, alignment, and physical repairs.
  • Solid foundational understanding of industrial electrical systems, control panels, and automation architectures.
  • Professional, customer-facing communication skills with the ability to represent the company positively on-site.
  • High degree of self-motivation with a structured, root-cause approach to problem-solving.
  • Complete flexibility to travel up to 70% across North America, with occasional international travel for specialized training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as an Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) technician in heavy industrial, packaging, or manufacturing environments.
  • Practical familiarity with mainstream industrial robotics platforms (such as Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or Yaskawa).
  • Practical experience working with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLCs.
  • Associate degree, military training, or technical certification in Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of field service, industrial maintenance, or equipment commissioning experience.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Target Compensation: Competitive hourly/salary structure ranging from $70,000 to $130,000 equivalent (commensurate with experience and educational background).
  • Retirement & Bonuses: Performance-based corporate profit-sharing contributed directly to retirement savings, alongside a company-matched 401(k) program.
