Field Service Technician II

Location: California (Los Angeles preferred; Fremont and San Francisco Bay Area also considered)
Employment Type: Full-time (Direct Hire)
Compensation: $44.00 – $49.00/hour (based on experience)


About the Role

We are seeking a Field Service Technician II with strong electrical and mechanical expertise to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of robotic and automation systems. This is a highly travel-intensive role supporting customer sites across the U.S. and occasionally internationally.

Success in this role requires hands-on technical skill, customer focus, and the ability to adapt to dynamic service environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair robotic and automation equipment at customer sites, remotely, or in-house
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and programming issues
  • Respond to service escalations and deliver timely resolutions
  • Document all service activities, including detailed reports completed before leaving customer sites
  • Maintain accurate records of parts, tools, and test equipment
  • Back up and document all software, programming, and configuration changes; provide copies to customers and internal records
  • Support cross-functional teams (Sales, Engineering, Assembly, Logistics) as needed
  • Identify and promote service and spare parts opportunities when appropriate
  • Follow all company and customer safety standards and protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in field service, robotics, automation, or related technical work
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (electrical, mechanical, GD&T)
  • Intermediate computer skills (e.g., MS Office, CRM systems such as Salesforce)
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to work independently
  • Willing and able to travel extensively (70%–80%+), often on short notice
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on customer needs
  • Valid passport (or ability to obtain one)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with robotic systems or industrial automation
  • Familiarity with control systems and programming
  • Experience supporting customers in high-demand service environments

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods
  • Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally
  • Manual dexterity for handling tools and technical equipment
  • Ability to work in varying light and environmental conditions

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings (drug and background check)
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed

Work Environment & Travel

  • Travel required: approximately 70%–80%
  • Work may be performed at customer sites, company facilities, or remotely
  • Occasional training may take place at headquarters in Germany
