Field Service Engineer – Materials Testing Equipment

We are seeking a technically strong and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to support advanced materials testing systems across a growing national client base. This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals who enjoy troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems, working independently, and traveling extensively.

In this role, you will install, maintain, calibrate, and repair high-precision testing equipment used across industries such as aerospace, medical devices, automotive, and research laboratories. You will also serve as a trusted advisor to customers—providing training, technical guidance, and ensuring optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, preventative maintenance, calibration, and repair of testing equipment

  • Troubleshoot electromechanical, electronic, and hydraulic systems

  • Interpret schematics and technical drawings to diagnose issues

  • Train end users on equipment operation, software, and testing methods

  • Prepare detailed service and calibration reports aligned with quality standards

  • Support ongoing customer relationships through responsive service and communication

Qualifications:

  • Strong troubleshooting experience across mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems

  • Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes

  • Experience working with or exposure to 3-phase power systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience

  • Background in materials testing, calibration, automation, or precision equipment is preferred

  • Comfortable with extensive travel (up to ~80%), including overnight trips

What Success Looks Like:

  • Delivering high-quality service that ensures customer satisfaction and system reliability

  • Effectively managing a travel-heavy schedule with strong organization and independence

  • Acting as both a technical expert and a professional representative in the field
