STS Technical Services is hiring Field Service Engineers to support on-site electrical distribution system evaluations, arc flash risk assessments, infrared thermography and electrical training. This home office-based role requires candidates to reside within 50 miles of a major metropolitan national airport and includes 50 to 70 percent U.S.-based overnight travel and on-site field work.Position Overview The Field Service Engineer will perform electrical power system studies, gather electrical system data, support arc flash service proposals and deliver technical recommendations to customers across multiple industries. This role works closely with sales teams, customers, maintenance personnel, safety teams, plant engineering groups and management to ensure electrical safety, code compliance and accurate project delivery.What You'll Be Doing Perform electrical power system engineering studies and infrared thermography for clients across multiple industriesAssist the sales team and communicate with clients regarding arc flash services offeredProject manage assigned customer projects from job kickoff through job closeoutEvaluate documents and gather electrical data to create engineering study project proposalsPerform on-site electrical system assessments to document existing system configuration, equipment ratings, conductor lengths, ampacities and overcurrent protective device informationPerform power system studies including arc flash studies, short circuit coordination studies and fault current studiesPerform general and site‑specific arc flash training for customersPerform arc flash audits and gap analysisCreate customer reports and communicate findings to customersIdentify electrical code violationsCreate arc flash reports, including arc flash labels, single‑line diagrams and recommendations to reduce incident energyServe as Subject Matter Expert and trainer to internal personnel on arc flash safety, assessments, audits and calculationsWhat You Will Need to Be Successful Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or collegeIn lieu of education, 10 years of practical electrical engineering, engineering calculation or field experience in the electrical building construction industry is acceptableMinimum of 5 years of electrical engineering, engineering calculation experience or related field experienceAbility to understand installed electrical distribution systems, electrical schematic diagrams and engineering documentationKnowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E and OSHA requirements related to arc flash and electrical distributionSelf‑directed and able to solve problems in the field with no supervisionProficiency with SKM PowerTools, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to train customers on general arc flash principles and site‑specific arc flash requirementsAbility to interface with customers, including maintenance, safety and plant engineering personnel, as well as upper levels of managementProficiency in generating technical reports, including recommendations to clientsAbility to travel 50 to 70 percent for U.S.-based overnight travel and on-site field workMust reside within 50 miles of a major metropolitan national airportSTS Technical Services is an equal opportunity employer.#J-18808-Ljbffr
