Job Summary:
The Field Service Technician provides field and inside technical support for air, vacuum, and medical gas handling systems used in hospitals and medical centers. This position will perform equipment installation, startup, preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and customer training. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of electrical and mechanical experience, with hands-on experience servicing equipment such as pumps, compressors, vacuum systems, or similar mechanical systems. Training will be provided on medical gas handling systems and related equipment.
Job Duties:
- Install, start up, service, troubleshoot, and repair air, vacuum, and medical gas handling systems and related equipment.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on pumps, compressors, vacuum systems, motors, and other mechanical/electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using drawings, schematics, manuals, and other technical documentation.
- Provide startup assistance and in-service training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Perform warranty evaluations and assist with equipment investigations and technical evaluations.
- Support field service activities at hospitals, medical centers, and other customer locations.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, quality requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Assist with recommendations and investigations related to equipment performance and quality issues.
- Provide inside technical support for aftermarket sales activities as needed.
- Perform assigned field service work with minimal supervision after completing training.
- Maintain accurate service documentation and communicate service findings to appropriate internal teams.
- Travel to customer sites as needed, including occasional overnight travel for several days. Some assignments may be provided on short notice.
- Work primarily with pipeline products and various air, vacuum, and medical gas systems.
Qualifications:
Required
- 1–3 years of hands-on electrical and mechanical experience.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and/or electrical equipment (pumps, motors, compressors, production machines, or related industrial equipment)
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel to customer locations and occasionally stay overnight.
Preferred
- Associate's Degree or technical certificate in a related field.
- Prior Field Service experience.
- Experience servicing pumps, compressors, vacuum systems, or similar gas handling equipment.
- Experience installing, troubleshooting, or maintaining industrial or medical equipment.
- Experience working in hospitals, medical facilities, industrial facilities, or other technical environments.
Training & Certification
- Extensive on-the-job training will be provided on air, vacuum, and medical gas handling systems.
- Employer-sponsored training toward ASSE Med Gas 6040 certification will be provided.
