The Field Service Lead serves as the primary customer-facing technical leader responsible for leading field technicians during installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial heat transfer equipment. This role provides on-site leadership, ensures safe execution of work, coordinates with customers and internal departments, and delivers exceptional service while maintaining Kelvion quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead field technicians during installations, commissioning, inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact on-site and provide professional project updates.
  • Lead daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA, customer, and company safety requirements.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control system issues.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and service documentation.
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and commission air fin coolers, plate heat exchangers, shell & tube heat exchangers, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate activities with Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Quality.
  • Complete detailed digital service reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train and mentor technicians while maintaining high workmanship standards.
  • Travel approximately 80% or more as business requires.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assign daily work and coordinate field crews.
  • Coach technicians and provide technical guidance.
  • Promote quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Escalate customer concerns and resolve issues professionally.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Professional customer-facing presence.
  • Conflict resolution and expectation management.
  • Read electrical schematics.
  • Troubleshoot motors, VFDs, sensors, controls.
  • Use multimeters, megohmmeters, clamp meters.
  • LOTO and electrical safety.
  • Repair pumps, motors, bearings, gearboxes, couplings.
  • Perform alignments and mechanical inspections.
  • Preferred experience with AFCs, plate and shell & tube heat exchangers.
  • Commissioning, troubleshooting and performance evaluation.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver''s license.
  • Ability to obtain Passport and TWIC.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years industrial field service experience with at least 2 years leading crews preferred.
