Job Description Job Description Field Service Representative – Electrical (Energy / Utilities) This is a hands-on electrical field engineering role , not an office engineering job.
What this person actually does: Travels to customer sites to service electrical power systems
Troubleshoots and tests high-voltage electrical distribution equipment
Works on systems like: Protective relays
Power quality systems
Rotating machinery (generators, motors)
Electrical control and distribution systems
Performs testing, repairs, diagnostics, and system validation in the field
Writes detailed service reports after each job
Core technical focus: 3-phase power systems (low, medium, high voltage)
Electrical troubleshooting and protection systems
Field testing equipment (relay testers, meters, diagnostic tools)
Electrical safety compliance
Work environment: Heavy travel within region
On-site industrial/utility environments (substations, plants, field sites)
Physical work (lifting tools/equipment up to 50 lbs)
Variable schedule (nights, weekends, emergencies possible)
Who they want: Electrical or mechanical technician/engineer background
Field service experience OR strong hands-on electrical systems experience
People comfortable working under pressure in real-world power systems environments
Bonus: NETA, NICET, PE license, or utility experience
