The Field Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Field Service Technicians with installations, services, and maintenance of the bulk cryogenic equipment and onsite systems for the production, conversion, and sale of gases manufactured and processed by the region.
- Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Coordinates the preventative maintenance program for bulk and onsite generation equipment located at production facilities and bulk cryogenic installations at customer sites to foster systems that are properly maintained. Equipment to include: cryogenic tanks, vaporizers, regulators, pumps, gas compressors, air compressors, dryers, filtration systems, vacuum pumps, high pressure helium and hydrogen and other electro-mechanical devices.
- Performs site survey assessments with company sales representatives at potential customer sites to identify and analyze potential project obstacles, and contribute to solutions.
- Reviews and supports site surveys conducted by technicians.
- Guides and oversees bulk and onsite generation installations. Partner with the team to ensure installations are installed according to established standard operating procedures and in compliance with applicable building codes, NFPA standards, government regulations and Airgas standards.
- Provides initial and ongoing training to support the growth and competencies of Field Service Technicians.
- Provides technical partnership to internal sales personnel and customers as needed.
- Fills in as a technician on installs, removals, and service work as needed to support the team.
- Maintains a positive work environment for the field technicians in all direct or indirect communications.
- Facilitates associate training in procedural areas such as following all Airgas operating standards and safety regulations.
- Empowers coaches and mentors associates; this will include positive motivation and performance evaluation, coaching, providing regular feedback, communication of goals, leading regular team meetings and safety calls.
- Attracts, nurtures, and develops the necessary team to ensure success for the department's goals.
- Coordinates work hours and approves overtime in the timekeeping system. Responsible for maintaining hours within the established budget.

Education and Potential
We are looking for a Bachelor's degree in a Technical or related field of study. Equivalent professional experience (approximately four years in a closely related field) is also highly valued and may be accepted in place of a degree.
Background and Experience
Ideally, you bring around five or more years of experience in industrial operations or field service, with a preference for backgrounds in cryogenic gases or welding.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's)
- Valid driver's license and a clean DMV report are required, along with the expectation of adhering to the Airgas Driver Qualification policy.
- Familiarity with ASSE Medical Gas credentials or Oregon Boiler License requirements is a plus.
- Working knowledge of welding, brazing (specifically silver brazing), pipe fitting, and the use of common hand tools.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting cryogenic equipment, high-pressure piping, and compressors.
- A natural aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing regulators, piping, and liquid cryogenic leaks.
- Empowering and supportive leadership style; motivates field personnel to achieve company goals through connection and clarity.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate information verbally (to customers and employees) and in writing (for internal/external documents).
- A collaborative approach to managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and goals effectively and timely.
- Proficient in Google Workspace Suite and comfortable with AI/Gemini.
- Able to read and interpret safety rules, SDS, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and site layouts/P&IDs.
- Requires trusted discernment, initiative, tact, and diplomacy in problem-solving, providing recommendations, and handling proprietary information.
