Bear Staffing is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician for a direct-hire opportunity with a leading provider of modular buildings and mobile workspace solutions in Baldwin, ND,
This is a hands-on position combining unit repair and refurbishment at the branch with field service work at customer locations. Approximately 60% of the role focuses on preparing and repairing units in the yard, while approximately 40% involves servicing, maintaining, and modifying units at customer sites.
The ideal candidate has a strong construction or building-maintenance background, is comfortable working independently, and takes pride in completing safe, high-quality repairs. This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities.
Inspect modular buildings and identify required repairs or modifications
Prepare units for rental and customer delivery according to established quality standards
Clean unit interiors and exteriors
Wash, wax, repair, and replace flooring or floor tile
Install and replace windows, doors, exterior siding, walls, and other building components
Complete interior and exterior painting
Remove, repair, and replace damaged walls
Repair or replace lighting, plumbing, and basic electrical components
Perform light carpentry, general construction, and unit refurbishment
Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and organized work areas
Complete additional yard and repair duties as assigned
Travel to customer locations to inspect, maintain, and repair modular buildings
Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and subcontractors
Diagnose repair issues and determine the appropriate corrective action
Complete repairs and modifications while units are onsite
Perform preventive and general maintenance on the rental fleet
Complete light carpentry and building repairs at customer locations
Take required photographs before, during, and after service work
Accurately document completed repairs, materials used, and unit conditions
Ensure service calls are completed safely and within established timelines
Maintain a professional, customer-focused attitude while representing the company
High school diploma or equivalent
At least four years of construction, building maintenance, remodeling, facilities maintenance, or related repair experience
Working knowledge of basic carpentry, flooring, painting, plumbing, lighting, and electrical repairs
Experience safely operating hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and construction equipment
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
Ability to work independently and manage daily assignments
Strong interpersonal skills when working with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and team members
Basic computer skills and the ability to complete service documentation
Ability to read work orders, instructions, measurements, and inventory records
Good organizational and time-management skills
Basic mechanical skills for working with company vehicles and equipment
Valid driver s license and clean motor vehicle record
Ability to successfully complete required background and employment screenings
Dependable attendance, flexibility, and a team-focused attitude
Four to five years of construction or building-maintenance experience
Previous field service or customer-site repair experience
Experience repairing modular buildings, mobile offices, manufactured structures, trailers, or similar units
Experience in carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, flooring, drywall, painting, or general remodeling
Self-motivated and able to complete assignments with limited supervision
Candidates must be able to:
Lift and carry at least 50 pounds
Walk, stand, climb, stoop, squat, bend, twist, kneel, reach, sit, push, pull, and grasp throughout the workday
Safely operate company vehicles and associated equipment
Use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and impact equipment
Hold and operate impact tools weighing up to approximately 30 pounds
Perform physically demanding work indoors and outdoors
Work in changing weather and climate conditions
Work in environments that may include dirt, dust, grease, and elevated noise levels
Work safely around vehicles, heavy machinery, and construction equipment
Wear all required personal protective equipment
This position works in a combination of branch, yard, construction-site, and customer-location environments. All work must be completed according to established safety practices and quality standards.
