Field Service Technician (Food Equipment/Refrigeration) 
Locations: San Jose, CA metro; Sacramento, CA metro; or Reno, NV metro (regional travel)
 
About Culinary Sciences Inc.
We design and manufacture rapid chilling food treatment systems for the commercial food industry. We build refrigeration, electronics, motors, valves, and vacuum systems—and we back them with responsive, expert field support.
 
Role summary
In this position you will be responsible for installation, commission, maintenance, and repair of CSI equipment at customer sites. You’ll diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and controls issues, communicate clearly with customers and the home office, and document your work precisely. You will work independently in the field with strong factory/office support.
 
Responsibilities
- Install, start up, and commission new systems; perform preventative maintenance and emergency service
- Diagnose/troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control-system faults; read/interpret schematics and mechanical drawings
- Perform inspections; produce clear, detailed service and expense reports; communicate parts used and next steps
- Train customer staff on operation and maintenance; deliver professional, timely customer support
- Follow all safety procedures and site requirements
 
Experience:
- 3+ years field diagnostic experience troubleshooting industrial electro-mechanical/automated equipment 
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills; able to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Clear written/verbal communication; disciplined documentation and follow-up (pre-call, post-call reporting)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to lift/move equipment and work from a ladder for brief periods
- Ability to work independently and interface professionally with customers
 
Preferred previous experience
- EPA Section 608 certification (Universal preferred)
- 5+ years field service/engineering experience in food processing, commercial kitchen, packaging, or semiconductor equipment
- PLC troubleshooting/programming exposure
- Knowledge of sanitary design and food safety requirements
- Welding/fabrication experience (beyond brazing)
- CAD/SolidWorks experience
Travel
- Regional travel within assigned metro/territory; occasional overnights.
