    Job Description

    What you'll be doing

    • Champion a "Safety First" culture by modeling safe practices, attending customer safety meetings, and ensuring site safety compliance in accordance with ESS Metron and customer guidelines.
    • Provide technical support via phone, email, and on-site visits, delivering troubleshooting assistance and solutions to customer technical problems.
    • Perform field service including warranty work, commissioning assistance, acceptance testing, integrated system tests, protective relay settings, and functional tests on multiple OEM products.
    • Execute functional testing and final QC inspection of completed controllers and custom-built controls, troubleshooting to the component level for any failures.
    • Support new product research, development, and evaluation through functional analysis and reliability testing in collaboration with the engineering department.
    • Plan, layout, and perform specialized work of substantial variety and complexity, driving projects to completion with minimal supervision.
    • Deliver in-person training for groups of 5–20 personnel and serve as a technical consultant or advisor to customers, engineers, and team members.
    • Travel extensively (75–90%) including weekends, holidays, and extended trips up to 3 weeks to support customer training, service repairs, and start-ups.

    What you'll have

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar field a plus.
    • 4–5 years of experience in an electrical equipment manufacturing role, including electromechanical assembly and testing.
    • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and mechanical drawings.
    • Experience working with 12 VDC to 125 VDC and 120 VAC to 38kVAC systems.
    • Ability to troubleshoot relay logic, PLC-based circuits, variable frequency drives, across-the-line and reduced current motor controls, and switchboard equipment.
    • Proficiency installing, troubleshooting, and navigating PLC and HMI software for Allen Bradley, Siemens, ABB, and GE programmable logic controllers.
    • Familiarity with NFPA 20, NFPA 25, NFPA 70, UL50, UL508, UL891, UL1558, UL1773, IEEE, and NEC standards.
    • Ability to provide clear in-person training, troubleshoot over phone and email, and function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must have a clean driving record, be eligible for government clearance work, and ability to travel internationally.
    • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to work extended hours when required.

    Physical requirements and work environment

    • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods in an active manufacturing facility and on customer sites.
    • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to work onsite in environments with exposure to electrical equipment and moving mechanical parts.
    • Exposure to moderate-to-high noise levels and varying temperatures.
    • Must be available to travel with minimal notice for emergency service work.

    • Hazard Awareness: Proactively identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards or unsafe conditions.
    • Standards: Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety training.
    • Organization: Keep all work areas clean and free of obstructions to prevent workplace accidents.
