Position Summary
The Field Service Technician (FST) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas compression equipment within an assigned territory. This role supports USA Compressions field operations by ensuring equipment uptime, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and providing high‑quality service to internal and external customers. The FST works independently in remote field environments and plays a critical role in maintaining operational continuity for midstream partners. Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on natural gas compression equipment, including engines, compressors, coolers, and associated components.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime.
Conduct engine overhauls, compressor rebuilds, and component replacements as needed.
Complete start‑ups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities safely and efficiently.
Operational Support
Monitor equipment performance and operating conditions; identify and escalate abnormal trends.
Respond to call‑outs and emergency situations to restore equipment functionality.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with USA Compression standards, OEM specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for submitting accurate maintenance reports, expense reports, timesheets and other necessary paperwork daily.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental guidelines.
Participate in safety meetings, audits, and required training.
Maintain accurate documentation, including service reports, work orders, and parts usage.
Customer & Team Collaboration
Serve as the primary field contact for customers, providing professional communication and timely updates.
Coordinate with operations, logistics, and engineering teams to support equipment needs.
Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean, safe working condition.
