Position: Instrumentation / Field Service Technician Location: San Diego / Western United States
Rust Automation & Controls is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to support customers across the Western United States. This role focuses on hands-on instrumentation service, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair while working independently in a variety of industrial environments and collaborating with internal service and management teams.

Providing reliable and professional field service support to customers
Applying strong technical aptitude to instrumentation, calibration, and repair activities
Supporting customer operations through responsive, high-quality service execution
Adapting to varying industrial environments and customer site requirements
Role & Responsibilities
The Field Service Technician will support customers throughout the Rust Automation & Controls service region, working independently in the field while maintaining strong communication with internal teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Daily travel to a diverse customer base across multiple industrial environments
Applying instrumentation knowledge to troubleshoot, repair, and service equipment
Successful completion and application of apprenticeship-level instrumentation training
Adapting to customer-specific safety, operational, and environmental requirements
Performing hands-on troubleshooting, calibration, and repair activities
Utilizing hand tools and electronic testing equipment to diagnose and resolve issues
Maintaining professionalism, safety compliance, and quality standards in the field
Regional travel within the following states: UT, CA, CO, WY, NV, ID, MT, ND, HI
Qualifications & Profile
High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement)
Associate Degree in a technical field (required)
Field service or industrial experience (required)
Instrumentation training or apprenticeship experience (required)
