Job Summary: This position will inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance on various crane equipment including mobile cranes (All Terrain, Rough Terrain, Crawler Cranes, Boom Trucks, knuckle booms, bucket trucks, etc.). Mechanical experience required with electrical and hydraulics. It is part of this role’s responsibility to help grow the business by identifying new opportunities and contributing to the development of customer relationships and market presence. This is a summary description and therefore does not capture the entirety of the essential functions of the role. The candidate should ensure they have read and understand the scope, job functions, and physical requirements needed for this role. Key Responsibilities: - A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mobile Crane Mechanic/Technician that can operate and inspect cranes in order to diagnose defects
- Technician efficiency must be maintained at technicians level of expertise and or seniority.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, EKS, ECOS, LICCON, and Greer systems.
- Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges
- Reads and understands operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings
- Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications
- Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness
- Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision
- Maintain conformity to safety requirements, manufacturer procedures, and other regulations
- Properly fills out working reports, hour’s reports, time sheets, hour’s overviews, work orders, and expense reports
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends is a plus. Travel is required periodically for 1 to 4-day intervals for field techs. Our shop technicians work anywhere from 40 to 50 hours a week depending on immediate needs and our field technicians work anywhere from 40 to 80 hours a week depending on customer needs
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required for field technician positions
Preferred Qualifications: History of working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT and TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc, Liebherr, Terex, Palfinger, IMT, Cormach, National, Demag, Manitex, etc. Physical & Environmental Requirements To perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to: - Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, crawl, and work in awkward positions for extended periods.
- Frequently use hands and fingers to handle tools, parts, controls, and equipment requiring manual dexterity.
- Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally more with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
- Climb ladders, steps, platforms, and crane structures while maintaining three points of contact.
- Work at varying heights while utilizing required fall protection equipment.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, hydraulic tools, diagnostic equipment, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other shop equipment.
- Possess sufficient visual acuity to inspect components, read gauges, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Possess sufficient hearing and verbal communication abilities to communicate effectively in a noisy work environment and respond to warning signals.
- Maintain the physical stamina necessary to perform repetitive manual tasks throughout a scheduled shift.
Work Environment - Work is performed in both indoor shop and outdoor field environments.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, energized systems, grease, oils, fuels, hydraulic fluids, and cleaning solvents.
- Frequent exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, humidity, wind, and direct sunlight.
- Exposure to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, vibration, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Required to wear Company-issued and OSHA-required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, high-visibility apparel, and fall protection equipment as applicable.
- May be required to work in confined spaces, elevated work areas, and around energized equipment while following established safety procedures and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
