Field Service Technician III (NETA Level III)

$70-$79/hr

Job Summary

The Field Service Technician III (NETA Level III) is a senior-level technician responsible for leading acceptance and maintenance electrical testing, supervising field teams, and serving as a technical authority on projects. This role requires advanced knowledge of electrical testing standards, hazardous energy procedures, and safety compliance. The Technician III oversees projects from planning through final report delivery while ensuring quality, accuracy, and client satisfaction.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise field service teams on testing projects
  • Serve as technical lead and primary point of contact on assigned projects
  • Coordinate work activities, schedules, and safety practices
  • Review and approve test data and final reports prior to client submission
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Technician I and II team members

Duties and Responsibilities

Acceptance & Maintenance Electrical Testing

  • Lead and perform acceptance and maintenance electrical testing in accordance with NETA, NFPA 70E, and applicable industry standards
  • Verify equipment is properly de-energized and locked out/tagged out
  • Diagnose electrical issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure testing procedures meet quality and safety requirements

Project & Team Leadership

  • Plan and execute testing projects from start to finish
  • Assign tasks and oversee team performance in the field
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs, job hazard analyses, and site requirements
  • Communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders

Test Equipment & Field Operations

  • Oversee setup, operation, and removal of test equipment
  • Ensure tools and test equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and stored
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Verify equipment readiness prior to mobilization

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare, review, and approve detailed test reports
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule
  • Provide technical explanations and recommendations based on test results

Electrical Measurements & Analysis

  • Perform and interpret advanced electrical measurements
  • Analyze data to identify trends, deficiencies, and potential failures
  • Support troubleshooting and system evaluations
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support operational and business objectives

Required Attributes & Abilities

  • Ability to pass background check, MVR check, and pre-employment drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical theory and power distribution systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer-facing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting software
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited technical college or trade school preferred
  • NETA Level III certification required
  • 5+ years of relevant electrical testing experience
  • OSHA 30-Hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED, and Power DB training preferred

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to travel overnight up to 50% of the time
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, push, pull, sit, and work in confined spaces
  • Potential exposure to dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust
