What we need
Symboticis seeking a Field Service Technician to support the performance, reliability, and availabilityofourautomatedmicro fulfillmentandmaterialhandlingsystemsinlivecustomer environments. This hands-on, customer-facing role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, operational awareness, and the ability to diagnose and resolve issuesacrossrobotic,conveyor,andautomatedequipmentplatforms.Theidealcandidateisaproactiveproblemsolverwhoenjoysworkinginafast-pacedenvironment,takesownershipof technicalchallenges,andcollaborateseffectivelywithcustomersandinternalteamstoensure safe operations and maximize system uptime.
Whatwedo
The Micro-Fulfillment Operations organizationis responsible forsupporting,maintaining, andoptimizingSymbotic'sautomatedfulfillmentsystemslocatedwithinourcustomers'retailstores. Our team works directly in live operational environments to ensure systemsoperatesafely, efficiently, and reliably while enabling customers to meet their fulfillment goals. Field Service Engineersserveasthefrontlinetechnicalexperts,providingtroubleshooting,maintenance,and operational support while collaborating closely with customers, operations teams, and
engineeringpartnerstodrivecontinuousimprovementanddeliveranexceptionalcustomerexperience.
Whatyou’lldo
Performpreventive,corrective,andbreakdownmaintenanceonautomatedsystems including robotic bots, conveyors, lifts, motors, sensors, and material handlingequipment.
TroubleshootandrepairPLC-controlledsystems,electricalcircuits,controlpanels,HMIs, and electro-mechanical components in live production environments.
Respondtoequipmentfaultsandoperationaldisruptionsbydiagnosingandresolving failures involving conveyors, robotics, motors, drives, sensors, and other automated hardwaretoquicklyrestoresystemfunctionalityandminimizeoperationaldowntime.
Executeinspections,adjustments,componentreplacements,andequipmentrepairs.
Monitorsystemperformance,alarms,logs,andoperationaldatatoidentifyrecurring faults and equipment reliability concerns.
Supportdailyoperationalactivitiesandpartnercloselywithcustomerstomaximize system uptime, productivity, and overall operational performance.
EscalatecomplextechnicalissuestoFieldServiceEngineersandengineeringteamsas needed to supporttimelyresolution and minimize operational impact.
PartnerwithHardware,Software,SystemsEngineering,Operations,andsiteleadership teams to restore and stabilize system performance.
Readandinterpretelectricalschematics,controlsdiagrams,andmechanicaldrawingsto troubleshoot complex automated systems safely and efficiently.
Supporttrainingprograms,technicalinitiatives,and futuresitego-liveactivitiesasa developing subject matter expert.
Maintainmaintenancerecords,repairs,andtroubleshootingdocumentationwithin CMMS and internal reporting systems.
EnsurecompliancewithOSHA,LOTO,electricalsafety,machineguarding,conveyor safety, andSymboticsafety standards.
Whatyou’llneed
Associatedegree,technicalcertification,orequivalenthands-onexperienceinElectrical Engineering,Electro-MechanicalTechnology,Mechatronics,AutomationTechnology,or a related technical field,OR
Minimumof2yearsofhands-onexperiencesupportingautomatedsystemsin warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or material handling environments.
Experiencetroubleshootingelectromechanicalequipment.
Abilitytodiagnoseandrepairelectricalcircuitry,controlpanels,motors,sensors,and automation hardware.
Experiencesupportingliveoperationalenvironmentswhereequipmentuptimedirectlyimpactsproduction or fulfillment operations.
Understandingpreventivemaintenance,breakdownresponse,andequipmentrecoveryprocedures.
Abilitytoleadtechnicaldiscussionsandmaintainprofessionalismincustomer-facing and high-pressure operational situations.
WorkingknowledgeofCMMSsystemsandmaintenancedocumentationpracticespreferred.
Familiaritywithlockout/tagoutprocedures,electricalsafetypractices,machine guarding, working at heights, and conveyor safety standards.
OSHA,NFPA70E,electricalsafety,orvendor-specificautomationcertificationsareaplus.
AbilitytotravelregionallywithinMassachusetts(30–40%)andoccasionallyacrossNorth America to support training and technical initiatives.
OurEnvironment
There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure.
You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 0° F to 80° F Fahrenheit.
If the site location is in construction, you willbe requiredto wear proper PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
Frequent ability tosafely and efficiently lift items weighingup to 50lbs and move items weighing up to 80lbs.
Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours and isfrequentlyto walk and reach with hands and arms.
The employeeis routinely required towork at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must be capable of occasional and/or continuous feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet. Mustcomply withall safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lockouttag out safety protocols and fall protection safetyprotocols.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $54,000.00 - $74,800.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
