Field Service TechnicianPosition Type: Temp-to-Hire (Long-Term)
Location: Taft, CA (Reporting to Taft Yard)
Pay Rate: $18.00–$20.00 per hour DOE
Schedule: Monday through Saturday (overtime and weekends as needed)
Hours: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Start Date: ASAPPosition SummaryWe are seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to assist our Field Mechanics and Shop Mechanics with the repair, maintenance, and servicing of oil production equipment and heavy-duty vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics while working alongside experienced technicians in both shop and field environments.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of production rigs, heavy equipment, and commercial vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Clean, inspect, and prepare mechanical components such as pistons, valves, clutches, transmissions, and related equipment.
  • Assist in replacing worn or damaged parts using hand tools and power tools.
  • Support emergency repairs at customer job sites and roadside locations as needed.
  • Safely operate shop equipment, tools, and heavy equipment when authorized.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop and field.
  • Complete assigned work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support field operations.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Zero (0) to one (1) year of experience in vehicle, equipment, or mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Valid California Class C Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn diesel and heavy equipment repair.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working around heavy equipment, oilfield equipment, or commercial vehicles.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time (up to 2 hours without relief).
  • Frequently bend, stoop, crouch, squat, kneel, reach, twist, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Frequently lift 75 pounds or more and continuously lift between 25 and 75 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 150 pounds with assistance or mechanical devices.
  • Occasionally lift over 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
  • Shop and field work in oilfield environments.
  • Exposure to grease, oil, dirt, dust, loud noise, vibration, and changing weather conditions.
  • Overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs may be required based on business needs.
