Field Service Technician

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Field Service Technician to join our growing team in Wixom, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment at customer facilities. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, working independently, and delivering outstanding service to customers.

The successful candidate will support a variety of industrial machinery, including gear cutting, milling, boring, grinding, and CNC-controlled equipment. You will play a critical role in helping customers maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and perform start-up testing of industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Perform machine alignment, setup, and validation for new equipment installations.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, CNC, and PLC-related issues.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance inspections and recommend corrective actions as needed.
• Perform emergency service repairs and equipment overhauls to restore production operations.
• Execute CNC retrofits, upgrades, and system modifications when required.
• Document service activities, maintenance reports, and repair records accurately and completely.
• Provide operator training and technical support to customer personnel.
• Communicate professionally with customers to identify concerns and deliver effective solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to resolve complex equipment issues.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, and industry regulations.
• Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continually improve service quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, apprenticeship, or industry certification preferred.
• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician, Maintenance Technician, Industrial Service Engineer, or similar role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience servicing industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, and CNC controls.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and using diagnostic equipment and software.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with the capability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 75%, including overnight travel, to customer sites throughout the United States and Canada as required.

Preferred Experience

• Installation and service of gear cutting, milling, boring, grinding, or other precision machine tools.
• CNC machine maintenance, programming support, or retrofit experience.
• Experience within manufacturing, machining, automation, or industrial equipment environments.
• Familiarity with Siemens, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Heidenhain, or similar CNC control systems.
• Previous experience in a field-based role requiring significant travel (50-75%+).
