FIELD SERVICES DIRECTOR
CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
Division of Sign Management Operations
Number of Positions: 1
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Salary: $105,516.00

Daily, this individual will be responsible for crew deployments for both scheduled capital projects and emergency repairs, ensuring that every installation-from regulatory sign adheres to MUTCD standards for retro reflectivity, mounting height, and lateral offset. Their primary focus is managing municipal liability by maintaining a defensible, high-quality signage network.

Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Five (5) years of experience in the inspection of public way construction and demolition projects, traffic flow surveys and street sign placement, of which three (3) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR
Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's Degree, PLUS three (3) years of experience in the inspection of public way construction and demolition projects, traffic flow surveys and street placement, of which three (3) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree, PLUS one (1) year of experience in the inspection of public way construction and demolition projects, traffic flow surveys and street placement, of which three (3) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.
NOTE: A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.
NOTE: Must have permanent use of an automobile that is properly insured including a clause specifically insuring the
City of Chicago from accident liability.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires an applicant to successfully complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the interview, will be selected.
