Job Description

Job Summary:
As a Field Surveyor with a transit background, you will be tasked with conducting surveys, measurements, and data collection primarily in outdoor settings related to transit infrastructure projects. Working collaboratively with team members, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and precision of data collection critical for transit-related construction and engineering projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field surveys utilizing GPS, total stations, and specialized transit surveying tools
  • Verify the accuracy of transit survey data and compile detailed reports for transit infrastructure projects
  • Assist in the preparation of transit-specific survey documents, maps, and drawings
  • Collaborate closely with team members to achieve project milestones and objectives within transit-related initiatives
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulations while performing survey work in transit environments
  • Maintain and calibrate transit surveying equipment to ensure precise data collection
  • Engage in clear communication with project managers, engineers, and transit stakeholders to address specific project requirements effectively

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 7 years relevant experience in land surveying with a specific focus on transit projects
  • Proficiency in utilizing GPS, total stations, and other surveying tools
  • Ability to interpret transit-specific maps, blueprints, and survey documents
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in transit-related survey work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to interact effectively within transit project teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in specialized surveying software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Trimble, customized for transit projects
  • Possession of certification as a Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) with a focus on transit surveying would be advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions, typical of transit project sites
  • Capacity to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds to facilitate transit surveys
  • Comfort with prolonged periods of walking, standing, and bending during transit survey operations
