Descriptions:

  • The Renewables Engineer/Technical Analyst is responsible for monitoring and enhancing the following key processes within the Onsite Generation group including, but not limited to; predictive/preventive maintenance plan development, equipment monitoring, emergent outage support and troubleshooting, technical expert for supporting creation of procedures and job aids; corrective actions; and equipment configuration control.
  • In addition, the Renewables Engineer/Technical Analyst is responsible for monitoring unit performance trends and taking action to prevent or address threats to generation and energy storage equipment.
  • This role is critical in ensuring day-to-day performance of the generating and storage units.
  • The Renewables Engineer/Technical Analyst will provide technical expertise on the overall integrated physical systems and equipment.
  • The Renewables Engineer/Technical Analyst will also provide technical review for the operation, maintenance, modifications or additions to existing equipment and system configurations and input on assets in development or in execution phase.
  • Monitor equipment performance and review notifications in equipment SCADA platforms.
  • Ensure critical equipment performance and health is monitored.
  • Provide technical support fleet-wide for "behind the meter" (BTM) onsite solar, utility-scale renewables, and energy storage assets remotely and physically when necessary.
  • Equipment Testing (Post Maintenance Testing from Maintenance Activity). This includes outage support when necessary.
  • Equipment Monitoring Support (Triage). At present this is primarily done remotely but may require site visitation.
  • Identify hardware and software risks within the renewables fleet and implement corrective actions.
  • Work with O&M contractors and Northstar employees to ensure all site personnel are adhering to all Environmental, Health and Safety standards.
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent in a scientific/ technical field is required
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience is required
  • Experience in power systems/renewables is preferred
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, with aptitude for learning new software.
  • Experience in SCADA systems and OSISoft PI Historian preferred.
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership, which may include supervision of employees and/or oversight. of contractors on project work at power generating facilities.
  • Experience developing short and long range maintenance and strategic plans.
  • Knowledge of building codes, permitting requirements, industry regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
  • Individual should exemplify safe work practices and follow the company's compliance standards.
  • Working Conditions: Indoor office, Indoor generating station, Outdoor generating station/solar field/wind farm
  • The recommended maximum weight for employees to lift without the aid of other employees of lifting device is 35lbs.
  • Must have the ability to work up to 12 continuous hrs. during emergent work.
  • Must be able to work at heights.

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
