As a Field Technician for the Construction Materials Testing (CTS) department, you will act as our primary on-site representative for routine material testing and quality inspections. You will help monitor material quality across various projects through hands-on field testing and accurate data reporting. Based out of our Cranston, RI office, this full-time position involves daily travel to local project sites throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Responsibilities
Perform field testing of construction materials, including soil, concrete, and asphalt, to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
Document all field observations and test results using digital reporting software for daily submission.
Interpret and adhere to project drawings, technical specifications, and industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO, and state DOT) to ensure all field and lab procedures strictly follow established protocols.
Maintain all testing equipment clean, calibrated, and in good working order.
Communicate professionally with construction personnel, engineers, and state and federal representatives while on site.
Collect and transport material samples from the field to the laboratory for further analysis.
Operate company vehicles safely while navigating active, high-volume construction zones and heavy highway traffic.
Adhere strictly to OSHA regulations and internal safety protocols in all work environments.
Perform duties in various outdoor environments, including active construction sites with uneven terrain, dust, and exposure to the elements.

This is a full-time 40-hour position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Hours may periodically include nights and weekends and overtime may be requested as determined by the needs of the department.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license and a clean driving history; ability to safely operate company vehicles to and from various job sites is required.
General computer skills, including the ability to learn and use digital reporting software to document field observations.
Ability to obtain certifications from OSHA, NICET, NETTCP, ICC and ACI within first year of employment is required
