Position Summary

The Field Technician Trainee works alongside experienced Field Technicians while learning to inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and document a variety of fire protection systems, including fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and other life safety systems.

Through hands-on training, mentorship, and company-sponsored development opportunities, you'll gain the knowledge and experience needed to become a skilled Fire Protection Inspector and build a long-term career in the life safety industry.

No previous fire protection experience is required. We are looking for dependable individuals with a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced Field Technicians with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems.

  • Learn applicable NFPA standards, local codes, manufacturer requirements, and Eagle Fire procedures.

  • Assist with inspecting fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, and other life safety equipment.

  • Learn to identify deficiencies and document inspection findings accurately.

  • Assist with testing system components and verifying proper operation.

  • Safely use hand tools, testing equipment, ladders, lifts, and other industry-related equipment under supervision.

  • Maintain inspection reports, service documentation, and other required records.

  • Travel to customer locations while representing Eagle Fire in a professional manner.

  • Participate in company-sponsored training, manufacturer training, and professional development opportunities.

  • Provide excellent customer service while interacting with customers and coworkers.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn a skilled trade.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and coworkers.

  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures.

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.

Preferred

Experience in one or more of the following areas is helpful but not required:

  • Construction

  • Electrical

  • Fire protection

  • Low voltage systems

  • HVAC

  • Plumbing

  • Mechanical trades

  • Industrial maintenance

  • Manufacturing

  • Military technical experience

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials.

  • Climb ladders and work at heights.

  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical work throughout the day.

  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Travel to customer job sites throughout the assigned service area.

  • Safely operate hand tools, testing equipment, and other job-related equipment.
