GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position is located in Eastern Wyoming.
Under the direction and supervision of the state veterinarian, the field veterinarian is responsible for advanced veterinary work, administering all animal health programs as assigned. Within designated areas, the field veterinarian oversees veterinary activities and disease control functions, coordinates disease program activities, assists in management duties and supervision of response activities, provides assistance to state and federal regulatory personnel, and provides educational opportunities for stakeholders. The field veterinarian works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Qualifications
PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to those with regulatory experience in the areas of animal health, disease control and eradication programs, epidemiology, emergency management/response, and animal welfare regulations.
Large/food animal veterinary experience
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree required
License to practice veterinary medicine in Wyoming (or ability to qualify for licensure within 1-3 months)
USDA APHIS Category II Veterinary Accreditation in Wyoming (or ability to qualify for accreditation within 1-3 months)
Valid driver's license
