POSITION: Fifth Grade Teacher (1.0 FTE)

Weston Intermediate School

Job Goal:

• To create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth
• To instruct and nurture students in the early stages of their academic development
• To motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education

Qualifications:

• Holds or is eligible for CT certification as an elementary teacher (#305 or equivalent)
• Holds a degree from an accredited college/university
• Possesses extensive knowledge of needs, behavior, and growth patterns of children ages 8-11

Performance Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive, age-appropriate curriculum
• Provide engaging and interactive instruction in various subjects, emphasis in math/science
• Assess and evaluate student progress
• Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Communicate and collaborate with families, colleagues, and administrators
• Maintain professional competence through professional growth activities
• Performs such tasks of a certified professional as the principal may assign from time to time
