    Description

    OverviewSummary: This position performs governmental accounting, auditing, and financial reporting in accordance with GASB and GAAP standards related to municipal finance. The Accountant I reports to the Budget Director and plays a crucial role in compiling financial reports, conducting budget and data analysis, and supporting special projects.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists departments with the grant application process, evaluates grants for City matching requirements, assesses the potential impact on the City prior to application submissionMonitors grant accounts, prepares reports, processes draw requests, and ensures compliance with grant requirementsAssesses agenda items related to grants to confirm funding requirements are satisfiedPerforms complex analysis of financial data related to various grants, ensures accuracy and compliancePrepares monthly journals and conducts reconciliations of general ledger accounts to maintain financial integrityAssists with the creation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, as well as the Annual Comprehensive Financial ReportProvides documents, schedules, and financial analysis to aid independent auditors during the City's annual auditEnsures financial reporting complies with legal standards and promotes transparencyAdheres to City policies and procedures, including work schedule and attendance policiesPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related fieldOne (1) year of experience in public accounting, private sector accounting, or governmental accountingProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCertified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) certification or progress towards CPA or CGFO certification preferred#J-18808-Ljbffr
