Finance Accountant II - 11020OverviewThe Primary purpose of the Finance Accountant II position is to perform professional level accounting work involving the analysis and reporting of municipal finances and other tasks related to the practices of recording, classifying, and researching financial transactions.ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and analyze financial statements for the General or other Funds, ensuring accurate reporting of revenues, expenditures, and commitmentsProvide monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for the General Fund or other funds to Internal stakeholdersAssist in the development of forecasts and budgetsTrack and monitor expenditures across multiple General Fund departments, ensuring proper allocation of costs and alignment with project budgetsReview invoices, ensuring they are properly coded and comply with budgetary constraintsMonitor cash flow and ensure that all expenditures are accurately reportedWork closely with project managers, finance teams, and other departments to ensure that financial information is accurate and timelyProvide financial guidance to project managers, assisting them with budget management and financial decision-makingIdentify opportunities for Improvements in financial reporting and tracking processesAssist in the development of financial systems and tools to enhance the efficiency of financial managementReconcile related accounts and resolve discrepancies as they ariseEnsure all transactions comply with GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal financial policiesSupport Audits and ensure that project records are fully audit-compliantMay be asked to perform other duties as assignedPosition Type and Typical Hours of WorkExempt – Full-Time – Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pmMust be available to work additional hours as neededFlexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirementIn the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital servicesThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
