Client Overview: A prominent regional energy and utility infrastructure provider is seeking a
Finance Analyst to join their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $35/hr - $40/hr
Position Overview: The Finance Analyst will support Finance planning, accounting, analysis, and regulatory activities. This role will partner with business units to support budgeting and forecasting processes, perform financial analysis, assist with accounting close activities, and provide support for regulatory and rate case initiatives.
Responsibilities of the Finance Analyst:- Support business units in the preparation, review, and monitoring of operating budgets and forecasts.
- Perform monthly variance analysis and assist management in identifying key drivers of financial performance.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account analysis, and related supporting documentation.
- Develop reports, presentations, and ad hoc analyses to support decision-making.
- Support regulatory and rate case activities, including research, data gathering, and responses to interrogatories.
- Assist with rate case preparation, including financial analysis, supporting documentation, witness testimony development, and preparation of testimony materials.
- Conduct research and analysis to support regulatory filings and other strategic Finance initiatives.
- Document processes, maintain supporting workpapers, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Collaborate with Finance and business unit leaders to provide financial insights and recommendations.
Required Experience/Skills for the Finance Analyst:- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, variance analysis, and accounting close processes.
- Experience preparing journal entries and supporting financial reporting activities.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Finance Analyst:- Experience supporting regulatory filings, rate cases, or utility industry operations.
Education Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
